When Life Hands you Lemons… Go to Las Vegas

Last month just after moving across the country from VA--> Los Angeles we ended up in a less than desirable situation. Our first apartment seemed too good to be true, and it turns out it was. The building was severely infested with bed bugs, the ordeal was a nightmare- lost deposits, lost furniture, bites and bruises galore the list goes on.. but most importantly loss of a place to stay. Hotels in Los Angeles are not cheap, therefore not a viable option at the time for us for long term stays. After a few days of very panicked brainstorming I heard a girl at my work talking about how often she goes on trips to Vegas and I got to thinking …hmmm...   I came back from work that night with a proposition to Matt : "We should stay somewhere that hotel rooms are cheap"…"Ya know where hotel rooms are cheap ?….VEGAS!" At first the idea was dismissed as crazy but we found a fantastic deal on living social and were actually able to stay 5 nights in Vegas for what the price of 1 night in a Los Angeles hotel would cost. Granted we did not 'ball out' or 'drop money' as hard as most people do on their first trip to LV we had a really fantastic (not to mention budget friendly) time. Our trip was rooted in necessity, I can't say it was glamorous but I can't say it wasn't glamorous. We restricted ourselves to staying financially responsible for the most part but allowed 3 'splurge'/'treat ya'self' activities. After a short 4 hour car ride we found ourselves in Sin City. Here are a few pictures from our adventure

First things first; Coffee and Selfies

A view of the strip ! Splurge #1 of 3  for the trip was to ride the roller coaster at the New York, New York hotel. This was Matt's nomination, he loves roller coasters, this one is on top of the hotel.  Very fun and has a crazy view of the strip from the top (if you are brave enough to keep your eyes open)

Can't do a road trip with out a little In N Out pit stop -- My only regret ? Not going 'animal style' on the fries too. Side question HOW DO THEY MAKE IT SO PRETTY !? EVEN IN A TO GO BAG !??!?! HOWW!?!?!

Splurge #2 of 3 on the trip. Drinks at the Chandelier  bar at The Cosmopolitan . Clearly this was my nomination, the bar is beautiful it literally looks like you are sitting in the center of a chandelier, plus it is a little removed from all of the craziness going on at the casino below. Very dreamy.

Splurge #3 of 3. All you can eat brunch ! There are so many buffets to choose form it was seriously stressful trying to decide where to go ! We ultimately decided on the Wicked Spoon. This was absolutely delicious, I am trying to remember what my favorite item was but it is just one big yummy blur. Just prepare yourself for a serious food coma afterwards …like seriously if you are a planner allot time for your post-buffet food coma.

BRITNEY …my Britney was out of town while I was in town …tears were had ( it was for the better because I was not tempted to overspend trying to go to her concert !). I am not saying I drunkenly yelled at her poster…but I am not saying I didn't --What happens here stays here right !?

Showing off my Vegas nails at the Dolly Parton slot machines (Can you guys sense a theme of blonde diva's here yet ?)

We attempted to walk off that all you can eat brunch (key word attempted) During the day we walked all around the strip/casinos, these casinos are works of art in their own right. In some it felt like walking around a museum, this is a picture I snapped on my phone of a beautiful ceiling display in the Bellagio.

A 'Selfie' in celebration of successfully sporting a Jessica Simpson/Ken Pavves Clip in extension all night (Again my theme with blonde diva's …I can't help myself guys !! I wish I knew how to quit them!)

On Wednesday's our Casino/hotel/The Orleans has a $5 movie deal. So we spent the day catching up on some summer blockbusters, hiding out from the commotion

On Top of the World !! (Jk just on top of the Stratesphere…and no we did not go on that crazy drop off the edge ride! NO!)

Showcasing that evil Vegas mani by the pool

My trustee coin purse, it was given to me as a hand me down from my Grandmother Poochie who my Pop-pop would always call his lady luck. Naturally I had it by my side for all of my slot machine gambling ! (and did in fact win $18 on a penny slot..--> cue 'Big Spender!')

Gift shop overload

En route from Caesars Palace to Planet Hollywood

A snapshot on our way out. Thank you Vegas for being the perfect escape in the desert during a week when we needed it most !

The Living Social Deal we used  is still up, but I noticed when searching for the link that currently there are a TON of deals for Vegas right now even on the strip. If you live with in driving distance I would totally recommend it as a fun (surprisingly affordable) getaway!
